Bellerive-Howrah Coastcare Group

The Group assists the Clarence City Council with the maintenance of the dunes at Bellerive and Howrah Beaches and the fore-shore on Second Bluff. The Group operates under the guidance of a Council endorsed Reserve Activity Plan.

Activities focus on weed and rubbish removal and selective planting of native vegetation. Approximately four times a year, as well as after storm events, the Group undertakes TASMARC monitoring to measure changes in the profile of fore-shore.

Working Bees are held at 10.00 am on the first Saturday of each month, except January. Additional working bees may be undertaken when the need arises.

The primary objective is to restore and maintain the natural bio-diversity of the dunes.
