Huon Waterbug Training- Upper Huon Wildlife Monitoring Group

Freshwater ecologist, John Gooderham will lead each session where we will assess the status of a local creek by surveying aquatic macroinvertebrates - known as waterbugs. The sessions are ‘hands on’ involving everyone to collect the bugs and use the latest technology to identify and record the sample using the Waterbug App. It’s free to download and fun to use. The data will be uploaded from each site to the Waterbug Blitz website and mapped to reflect local water quality, as indicated by the bugs collected in the survey (www.waterbugblitz.org.au’).

The sessions are suitable for young children to adults with participants using a mix of basic tools (hand lens, ice-cube tray and plastic spoon) and The Waterbug App, to identify live waterbugs.
