Join Friends of Collinsvale for a morning of planting trees in one of the revegetation paddocks in the Collinsvale Reserve.

The Collinsvale Community Association requested Glenorchy City Council to undertake maintenance of the BMX track. The track has not been used much in recent years and had become overgrown. A few trees needed to be cut down to ensure safety of bike riders. Glenorchy City Council has decided to plant twice as many trees (at least) as those removed, in a different part of the reserve. We hope to involve the local school in this activity. Friends of Collinsvale will follow up with planting trees, watering them and checking on their progress. We also plan on undertaking a survey to see if there are is any natural recruitment of saplings. Weed control will be an ongoing activity.

What to bring: Enthusiasm, family and friends!!! Gloves, spade/trowel and secateurs (if you have them).

Safety: Please dress appropriately for the weather (it could be wet and windy, or hot and sunny). Bring a hat, sunscreen and insect repellent. The walking track and ground around the Landcare container is uneven. Please wear good walking shoes.

Cancellations/safety alerts: We will cancel the event if there is extreme fire danger or ice/snow alerts. A Cancellation notice will be posted on the public Facebook page “Events- Friends of Collinsvale”. Please check this page for updates.

Directions: Meet at the "Landcare Container" opposite the Dog Park. Drive up Hall Road, and continue to drive past the Collinsvale Memorial Hall, the Fire Station and the Machinery Club.  The "Landcare Container" will be on your right, up a small slope.

Other information: You don’t have to be a member of Friends of Collinsvale to join the activity. Just show up on the day. Children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult.
