Marion Bay Spit walk and sea spurge search
Activity: Marion Bay Spit walk and sea spurge search
After a winter of many storms there is every chance sea spurge may have established a beach head anywhere on the Spit.
In recent years we have had the odd new infestation to treat. I this activity we will walk to the end of the spit and with plenty of pairs of eyes try and locate any new sites of sea spurge. If we find any we will remove any plants and record their location so as to be able to return should plants have seeded.
In the past we have found large single plants that have had a couple of years seeding have resulted in thousands of seedlings coming up over several successive years. We will also pick up any beach rubbish What to bring: Your favourite gloves for hand pulling weeds (though we can provide), beany/sun hat?? And a drink.
