Spanish Heath on Bangor - Marion Bay Coastcare
There is an infestation of Spanish heath near Lagoon Bay on Cape Frederick Hendrick.
We will follow up work undertaken last year where we located and cleared a number of patches. This activity is timed to coincide with the flowering time of Spanish heath which will make the plants easier to find. These are growing deep in the bush halfway out on to the Cape. Most plants can be hand pulled. Larger ones may need to be cut and dabbed with herbicide It’s a good half hours walk from our parking spot.
If the weather is anything like it was last year we will head out to the Cape for lunch to enjoy the panoramic views and spot seal pups hanging around the rocks below. Afterwards there will be opportunity for some afternoon tea at Bangor Vineyard Shed or you may want to buy a glass of one of their delicious wines. I’ve booked a table but let me know on the day if you intend staying around so I can confirm numbers.
What to bring: Gloves for hand pulling weeds, warm clothes, drink and lunch and lots of energy!
