Hi all, the fourth Working Group Meet of this Boneseed Blitz is on Saturday 5th April and Sunday 6th April from 10-12, and we welcome all to come
join us.
All tools and equipment will be provided by us and you will only be required to bring hats, drinks and sturdy footwear.
Attached is a mud map of where we will be setup, and best access is achieved either at the end of Sunray Crt, Rokeby or Entrance between 638-640 Oceana Drive, Tranmere.
It's my pleasure to advise Rokeby Hills Community Landcare Group have finally gain authorisation from the Director of Housing to conduct our activities on 13 Bland St, Rokeby or commonly known as the car graveyard. This site has had very little care taken on it over the past 50 years and is in very poor condition. But we are optimistic that we can change this.
We will be focusing a great deal of our time on this parcel of land this year and will start by getting on top of the weeds on it, which is primarily made up of Boneseed. Removal of these weeds will be made up of manual pulling of the smaller seedlings and bushes and cutting and poisoning the larger plants. Then these plants will be piled onsite to dry and lose all fruits before we will load and remove from site.
There is going to be a lot of work involved with this and we encourage everyone, including anyone new to Landcare groups to come and join us. Many hands make light work is key here. Please also feel free to invite any friends or family that you think may be interested to take part.
