'Wings on Kings' - Spring Bird Surveys

Calling all bird lovers! It's time for the 'Wings on King' Spring bird surveys.

A great time of year to visit picturesque King Island while participating in some much needed citizen science.

The 4 day event will begin on Thursday 25th October with a 'Birding for Beginners' workshop, followed by a welcome team formation and orientation.

Friday and Saturday will consist of surveying, where you'll be on the lookout for birds migrating across the Bass Strait, as well as those that are already on King Island, and international migrant birds including Ruddy Turnstone, Red-necked Stint and Latham’s Snipe.

Saturday evening will be dinner with guest speaker Lindall Kidd from Birdlife Australia who will talk about the community engagement, BirdLife's Threatened Bird Network and how it is helping King Island.

The weekend will wrap up on Sunday morning with a workshop - ‘Enriching your Life: Planting for birds and diversity’ with King Island horticulturalist, Carmen Holloway.

This great event is a wonderful chance to contribute to the conservation of King Island, travel around the island and learn about the bird life.
