Glen Huon Dairy Pty Ltd

Glen Huon Dairy owns 1092 Glen Huon road, which borders the Huon River, and leases the farmland on the opposite side of the river at Forest Home. Both properties, under the management of Glen Huon Dairy, are licensed as organic under conversion with NASSA. To be accepted for this we have to submit a full organic management and conservation management plan. This is particularly important regarding the fact we influence 2 riparian zones. Since the start of 2017 we have been concentrating on getting the herd established and the dairy up and running. Now this has commenced we will be starting our conservation / restoration plans. This includes composting waste materials, weed management, fencing and grazing for soil restoration and replanting riparian zones. We have farm open days and we regularly receive visitors for private  tours. We have an extensive mailing list (>23,000 members) through the Bruny Island Cheese Club  and the farm and its management are part of our monthly video newsletters. We are active on facebook, twitter and instagram. We have a cheesery and cafe on site and people are able to visit and be guided through our whole farming process. Our aim is to continuously improve the health of our farm through soil, animal management and conservation.
