Andrew Stevenson, Wildseed Tasmania - Native Plant Nursery

Tasmanian born and bred, Andrew Stevenson has been working in Tasmanian horticulture since 1979. Initially employed in ornamental horticulture, nursery production and landscaping, he had a brief stint as a horticultural trainer before (along with his wife Helenka Havlat) acquiring Wildseed Tasmania in 1996. Since then, Wildseed Tasmania has expanded its catalogue from around 30 species to its current offering of over 350. Seed is now supplied to revegetation and species protection projects, public infrastructure works, nursery production, research, enthusiasts, and the tourist trade both locally, interstate and globally. Andrew also utilises his history of applied horticulture to oversee and operate the Wildseed Tasmania nursery which produces approximately 0.5 million plant units per annum. He also consults to revegetation project design and undertakes on-ground rehabilitation works and threatened species projects. His pet projects tend to be in wetland and aquatic environments and is currently investigating methods to reduce the carbon impacts and non-organic inputs into on-ground works.
