The Welcome BBQ

Bringing in the big conference weekend, Landcarers got together to eat, mingle and get excited for the days ahead on a balmy (rain-free) Friday evening.

This beautiful social evening was catered by some seriously skilled and industrious volunteers who fed the masses with recipes from Julia Turshen's ever-relevant book Feed the Resistance.  Think quinoa tabbouleh, pesto chickpeas, lentil patties, fudgey brownies - all at scale!

A dog, hard work, and hope

Later in to the evening, once bellies were full, the wonderful Anna Povey told us a beautiful story about her dog (which she managed to connect to Landcare!).  Anna shared her beautiful and very relatable perspective on connection to our natural spaces.  The audience was captivated and there may have even been a tear or two shed... or maybe it was just the onions? You can read her full speech here

All in all it was relaxed, highly enjoyed evening that was the perfect welcome for the weekend to come.

THANK YOU to all who came, and special thanks to the catering volunteers, and to the Tailrace Centre for use of their kitchen.  These memorable and positive events couldn't happen with you.
