Tas Government confirms doubling of Landcare funding

The Tasmanian Government committed to double funding to Landcare Tasmania as part of it's election promises in 2018. The ink is now dry on the paper and to celebrate we had an event with Primary Industries Minister Guy Barnett at Quamby Bend. With community Landcare growing strongly, it's been a tough couple of years finding ways to help support our members. This funding adds significantly to our ability to deliver on this core part of our mission.

Landcare groups from along the Meander River were on site for the official announcement of the funding. A big thanks to Ian and Jeanette Mitchelson from Quamby Bend Landcare for hosting the event and showcasing the great work they have been doing.

Also thanks to both Southern Cross News and Win News Tasmania for their stories on the launch.

ABC Tasmanian Country Hour presenter Tony Briscoe interviewed Landcare Tasmania's CEO Rod Knight this week about the important contributions that Landcare volunteers are making to our community and how Landcare Tasmania is recognising their contributions. They also discussed the increasing participation in Landcare across Tasmania and the need for funds to support a growing community Landcare base. Click the link below to have a listen.
