This round, 'Landcare Action Grants 2026: Protecting, Enhancing, and Maintaining Tasmania's Natural Values' will provide $240,000 for our members' on-ground projects that protect, enhance, and maintain high conservation value areas, while also aligning with at least one of the overall State Government Landcare Action Grant Objectives:
- Improve landscape and riverine health, stability and resilience;
- Support enhanced land management practices to reduce erosion and sedimentation;
- Assist the community to holistically manage natural and productive land and waterways across the landscape.

Grants available
-
The preferred project funding amount is $5,000 to $20,000 (ex. GST) per project, with up to $40,000 (ex. GST) available for exceptional projects as determined by the assessment panel.
- Supported activities include weed control, fencing, invasive species management and other activities deemed essential for the protection, enhancement, and maintenance of high conservation value areas. Please read the guidelines for further information on ineligible activities.
Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for the grant, you must be a member of Landcare Tasmania. Eligible applicants include all types of Landcare Tasmania members:
- Community Care Group*
- Individual
- Associate (farm, school, business, aboriginal organisation, club or association, trust, government entity)**
* Please note that if you are a member of a Community Care Group, the application will need to be submitted by the Community Care Group, unless you hold an individual or associate membership. Any application submitted by a non-member will not be considered.
** Please be aware that if you intend to apply on behalf of an organisation (such as a farm) then you must hold a membership for that organisation as an Associate member.
High conservation value areas
For the purposes of this grant, applicants should highlight why they believe the proposed project area is of high conservation value. This may include, but is not limited to, the following characteristics:
- Threatened species or their habitat and/or threatened vegetation communities
- Riparian zones, wetlands, salt marshes and/or waterbodies
- Intact or remnant native vegetation in moderate to healthy condition
- Areas that provide connectivity in the landscape
- Areas that are high in species diversity
- Areas with high geoconservation significance
Priority will be given to projects that include more than one characteristic of high conservation value. You do not need to know all the conservation values within your proposal, so please just include what you can in the application.
There are many examples of what high conservation value means, for example, the 30 by 30 roadmap for Australia.
