Landcare Assistance Program (LAP) admin grant – easy $ for Landcare groups

Landcare Tasmania delivers the Landcare Assistance Program every year to support member group core costs and to cover insurance. The funds are generously provided by the Tasmanian Government. The grant amount varies from year to year depending on number of groups that apply and insurance costs. Once insurance costs are paid for, the remaining LAP funds are distributed as the LAP admin grant to those who apply for it.

How do I apply?

LAP application forms and Insurance application forms are included as part of Membership Renewal each year (January), or on the New Group Application form for new members. For renewing members, LAP grant applications close on the 1st of March each year. For new members joining mid-year, LAP grant applications close on the 1st of October each year. New group applications after this date are eligible for the next year's LAP grant.

Here are some examples of what groups use their LAP admin grant funds for each year, in addition to covering insurance costs:

  • Incorporation fees
  • Audit fees
  • Project materials (stakes, tree guards, plants)
  • Phone use
  • Postage
  • Stationary
  • Safety gear (high vis vests, boots)

Do I need to be a member group of Landcare Tasmania to receive a LAP grant?
Yes in order to approve you for a LAP Grant you will need to be a paid up member of Landcare Tasmania. You can apply for membership here become a member and tick the box that indicates you would like to apply for this years LAP Grant.

Can I apply more than once per year?
No, this gives more groups a chance to share in the LAP funds

Can I apply through the website?
Yes! The application is included in both the Annual Membership Forms and the New Group Application Form.

Will I need to acquit LAP funds?
Yes, you will need to acquit each year before your application for another grant is approved

How and when do I acquit the LAP grant?
The Acquittal is included in the online Membership Form released every year in January, found in the Members Toolbox.

Do I need to provide an invoice to Landcare Tasmania?
Yes, we are unable to process the payment without an invoice. You will be contacted with a request to supply us with an invoice (or tax invoice if registered for GST). If your group does not have an ABN you will also be asked to complete a Statement By Supplier.

I have not yet fully spent last year’s grant, can I reapply?
Yes, just please tell us in the "Other" category on the acquittal form that you are rolling-over the funds to the next year.
