How will you get involved?

Who is Landcare Tasmania?

We work to represent, support, strengthen and grow community Landcare.

Our vision is simple but ambitious –

that all Tasmanian communities are empowered and enabled to care for the land and water of lutruwita/Tasmania

Community Landcare is a unique movement in which individuals and groups work together to improve the health of our natural and working landscapes. Community Landcare’s approach to environment and sustainability issues is ‘bottom up’, with the community taking ownership of the problem and being actively involved in the solutions.

We are the peak body for the community Landcare movement in Tasmania. We build resilience and capacity to protect, restore, and manage Tasmania's landscapes by connecting, supporting, and educating the community. We have over 300 members groups plus individuals who work on projects in their area to improve the health of our natural and working environments. The work of our members includes eradicating invasive weeds, revegetating bushland, managing farms to improve sustainability, controlling erosion, cleaning up beaches and much more.

We deliver a range of core functions and vital services that support the work of our members including distributing grants for on ground projects, providing cost effective group insurance,  and representing the interests of our members to all levels of government.

Landcare Tasmania acknowledges and pays respect to the Tasmanian Aboriginal people as the traditional and original owners, and continuing custodians of this land on which we live today.  We acknowledge Elders – past and present.
