Peter Stronach
Landcare Tasmania CEO

Peter started working in the environmental field while in primary school, addressing pollution in his local creek and engaging with Council to rectify the situation. With a deep understanding of the Tasmanian environment, he has an uncanny knack of being able to talk to anyone, on the land or in town, about the life around us in a way that is inspirational, informed and inclusive. His work as Community Landcare Manager for 10 years and now as CEO for Landcare Tasmania spans the breadth and depth of this amazing island. He has an unabated passion and enthusiasm for the environment, community, owls, and a good yarn. His favourite hot beverage is Earl Grey tea.

After pivoting into community engagement, she now combines design thinking with engagement expertise to support the Landcare Tasmania team and members. A natural people-person, Kate thrives on bringing diverse voices together to achieve shared goals with a community-centred approach. She’s excited to build new connections and learn from the collective knowledge within the Landcare Tasmania community.

Away from work, Kate has her hands full trying to grow fruit and veggies faster than her two young children can pick them. On long weekends, you’ll find Kate and her family camping in every kind of weather, exploring the beauty of our island state. Her go-to beverage is a comforting cup of chai.

She holds a Bachelor of Science majoring in zoology and biochemistry, Honours in freshwater nutrient recycling and a Masters in Environmental Management. She brings this experience to the Landcare Tasmania team as Project Manager. Anna is a passionate Landcare volunteer and founding member of Nipaluna Nursery, a volunteer Landcare nursery, that is primarily growing plants for revegetation projects in the Midlands.

Nick

With a background in high-performance sport, Nick transitioned into the environmental sector, driven by a desire to contribute to restoration and protection of the natural world. Prior to Landcare, Nick has worked in varying roles on construction, erosion control and revegetation projects while completing a Masters in Environmental Management. His published master’s research focused on restoration economics, exploring how ecological outcomes can align with financially sustainable models.
Nick brings a performance-driven mindset to his work, translating coaching principles and experience into effective project management and team leadership. He is committed to delivering practical, on-the-ground environmental outcomes.
Outside of work, he enjoys fitness, hiking, and time in nature. Nick’s favourite hot drink is a single-origin pour-over coffee (a self-confessed coffee snob).

Lily began an internship with Landcare Tasmania in 2022 and has worked in various positions across the organisation since then. Currently, she works remotely as the Devolved Grant Manager from Northern NSW.

Lily holds a Masters in Environmental Management and strongly believes in the power of the grassroots movement. She is interested in understanding how community and cultural knowledge can be integrated into decision-making processes to help conserve the natural environment. In her spare time, Lily enjoys bushwalking, volunteering with a local group and swimming at the beach or in a river. Her favourite beverage is an iced coffee or roasted rice tea.

Madeline

Madeline has a passion for working with others to maximise ecological outcomes and brings a blend of project management theory, ecology and a collaborative focus to implement real on ground environmental benefits. Madeline believes a good day is one spent in nature and loves spending time outdoors with her two young kids.

Dawn
Communications Manager

Dawn has loved storytelling and nature since she was a child climbing trees and combing shorelines in search of adventure. She holds a Masters in Strategic Communications from UWA and feels grateful to have combined these passions into a communications career spanning ten years, and she loves sharing inspiring stories with the community.
Dawn is an avid volunteer and thinks there's nothing better than getting out in her local patch in the Southern Beaches, helping to weed or plant trees. When not at her desk, she loves reading, yoga and heading off into the Tassie wilderness with her partner and daughter. Her favourite hot beverage is a steaming brewed chai to kick off the morning.

Jen
Outreach Coordinator

Jen developed a passion for Tasmania’s natural places, having spent her childhood camping, skiing and bushwalking around the State.

After studying, Jen went on to lead volunteers and young people on conservation projects across Southern Tas. She has many years’ experience working in Natural Resource Management within local government and has been lucky enough to deliver projects in partnership with community groups and Landcarers in areas such as Tasman, King Island and the Midlands. Jen holds a Graduate Diploma in Environmental Planning, a Bachelor of Natural Environment and Wilderness Studies, and a Certificate II in Conservation and Land Management.

She enjoys English breakfast tea, especially when served from a pot with a funky tea cosy.

Declan
Administration officer

Declan first became involved in Landcare in 2020 as a volunteer, and has since worked in several different industries. He is excited to have the opportunity to return to Landcare Tasmania to work with others who are passionate about the Tasmanian environment.

Having completed an Honours degree in Botany, Declan is interested in how scientific methods and techniques can be used to aid conservation and land management.

Jess
Executive Assistant

Jess grew up in Lutruwita/Tasmania. Her love for the natural environment led her to study a Bachelor of Human Health Science in Herbal Medicine and Nutrition at UNE and then much later, when Covid caused a reason to pause and reassess; a Diploma of Sustainability through UTAS.

Most recently, Jess has worked with Nayri Niara - Aboriginal-owned social enterprise, in various roles including the development and delivery of the Nayri Niara Good Spirit Festival and curation of the Home HEARTh Markets, Okines Community House, curating and running events and then the co-creation and delivery of Pangaea Festival.

In her spare time, Jess loves putting permaculture principles into practice at home and spending as much time in the ocean as possible.

Jess’s favourite drink is the first cup of tea in the morning - without it, the day can not begin!

Bianca
Education Coordinator

Bianca is passionate about inspiring children and students to connect with nature and care for wildlife. She brings years of hands-on experience in animal education, including teaching nationally accredited courses, and now works with Landcare members, teachers, students, and families to create engaging environmental learning across Tasmania.
Outside of work, Bianca enjoys exploring beaches and bushlands with her family, reading with her dog by her side, and sipping on a Dandy Chai.

Sarah
Network Coordinator (Northern)

Sarah has been a plant and animal-lover since day dot. She chose the nature nerd pathway in university, studying Biological Sciences with honours in botany ecology, then completed a Masters in Science Communication at ANU.
Sarah has worked in engagement and outreach with science organisations like CSIRO and Questacon, and has somehow clocked up more than 15 years of (mostly) science and nature-flavoured storytelling for media broadcasters like the ABC.
In her free time, she loves messing about with plants, and creatively upcycling junk.
Ideal go-to drink: iced latte. More practical-in-Tasmania cuppa: hot latte

Amy
Network Coordinator (Southern)

Amy fell in love with Lutruwita/Tasmania and moved here from Victoria in 2024. She studied Environment Science at Deakin University and has worked in a range of environmental on-ground and strategic roles with local and state government within Victoria. In 2021, Amy founded, and is still an active committee member, of the Mornington Peninsula Intrepid Landcare - a group to inspire and engage youth in environmental volunteering. She currently lives in an off-grid house amongst the trees, and enjoys gluten free baking (and eating), surfing and spending time in the bush. Her hot bevvie of choice is a rooibos tea with a hint of vanilla.

Cassie
Project manager

Cassie is a botanist who has walked, kayaked and camped throughout Tasmania's wild places for work and pleasure over the last 27 years, surveying vegetation, assessing vegetation condition, running grant projects and environmental training. Often, she is so focused on the delightful herbs and orchids in the understorey she forgets to look up at the trees. When not working, she is gardening, building and learning new skills; making baskets with weeds, gates from driftwood, walls from earth and compost from everything. Her favourite beverage is a nice hot cup of earl grey tea.
