Heritage and Landcare in Ross
Heritage and Land Care in Ross is concerned with caring for land around Ross, on farms and public reserves, removing weeds and planting native trees, shrubs and grasses. We develop tracks for public access, and providing interpretation of the surrounding land, the history, the ancestors, and farming activities. We engage in heritage care in heritage landscapes, where there is a huge overlap in a town like Ross between land and heritage, including the old grave yards where there are memorials in need of care, and stone walls in need of repair. We engage in historic style fencing, including freestone wall construction. In the theme of farming we take an interest in historic farm machinery, and look to an open air museum. We look to art happening around Ross, to explore the creative inspiration of the land and heritage, and sculpture projects along the way.
