This week we enjoyed a picturesque visit to Penny Laksey's property to have a look at the natural regeneration happening along the kukuninka/Leven River in North West lutruwita.

With the assistance of Landcare Tasmania and some serious elbow grease from these amazing farmers, the site has responded positively. A concerted effort by Penny and husband Steve through fencing, offstream watering, natural regeneration and active revegetation has resulted in a functioning and healthy riparian zone, improved water quality and healthy stock and pasture.

Last Saturday, on May 20th, Landcare Tasmania and Tasmanian Land Conservancy joined forces to host a very popular and well-received workshop in Strahan. The workshop was a response to the community's keen interest in learning about environmental weeds and our precious Tasmanian native flora and fauna.

Landcare Tasmania recently hosted two exciting training workshops aimed at building community capacity to successfully manage invasive weeds.

We kicked off our May Weed ID workshop series with a fantastic session in Woodbridge.  Workshop-ers brought several specimens of weeds from their backyards for us to identify.

Last Saturday's Seed Collection and Propagation workshop was a great success.  We were joined by members of the Bicheno Landcare Group and the Seymour Community Action Group Inc. The participants enjoyed sorting seed from their local areas and then planted this seed in tree tubes ready to take home and look after. These plants will go directly to the on-ground works that both groups are doing,  helping to improve the biodiversity and resilience of the local ecosystems.

This month, we hosted two workshops on carbon farming and environmental markets.  The aim of these workshops was to facilitate discussion with farmers and experts in the field on how environmental markets work, and how we can make the most of them.

On Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th November we held  two volunteer planting days as part of our South East Landscape Project, to get some plants in the ground that were long overdue thanks to heavy rain.
