Landcare Tasmania is thrilled to launch a new research report for the Seed Resilience Project. The Seed Resilience Project is an on-going project that aims to improve the capacity to supply native seed for biodiverse revegetation projects into the future.

We had an excellent time at the agricultural extravaganza that is AgFest 2024 last week.  Held at the sprawling grounds of Quercus Park, this year's event brought together farmers, families, and nature enthusiasts alike, all eager to engage with the land in meaningful ways.

Landcare Tasmania hosted a school holiday event focused on platypus and waterbug discovery on Monday 15th April at Garden Island Creek. The aim of this sold-out event was to connect children and families with their local environment and active Landcare groups.

On Sunday 13th April Landcare Tasmania hosted 60 Northwest locals at the Tasmanian Arboretum in Eugenana for a day of bug hunting, joined by expert scientists Clare Hawkins and Lynne Foster.

Amidst the tropical rains in southern Tasmania on Wednesday, we met with 14 residents of Freesia Gardens – a Centrecare Evolve Housing village - to hear their ideas for gardening and Landcare activities at the residence.

One of Landcare Tasmania's key member services is to provide opportunities for training and networking. 

Thanks to successful funding applications and generous donations, we are running a series of events and information sessions across the state, helping to empower you and your communities to look after your patch with upskilling and networking opportunities. 

We constantly collect feedback on the types of training our members and supporters would be interested in. The workshops below have been developed in response to popular topics and funding opportunities. As event details are finalised, details will be updated and more events added. Members - watch your inbox for the invitations!

Priority invitations are given to local members and those who have registered interest. If places remain, registrations will be opened up to the wider membership and then to non-members.

Events part of our Education program are below in orange . These aim to strengthen ties between schools, TAFE, UTAS, and local Landcarers.  Interested schools can register their interest via our Expression of Interest form.

On Saturday 25th of November we hosted an information afternoon on Navigating Carbon & Biodiversity Markets at the Huonville Town Hall.

This month, we got together with farmers and interested landcarers in Campbell Town to learn the basics of environmental accounting as part of the Natural Capital Accounting Benchmarking project (NCA) run by Accounting for Nature® Ltd and Landcare Farming.

11th November 2023 | Local Landcarers spent the afternoon at Murrayfield Station on Bruny Island (Lunawanna-allonah) learning about how the South East Tasmanian Aboriginal Corporation (SETAC) land management team use fire and other techniques to keep Country healthy.
