Landcare Tasmania, the peak body supporting volunteers and Landcare groups across the state, is looking for an operations manager to help strengthen our internal systems.

Your experience can help us streamline and scale operations, ensuring we provide the best support to the people driving conservation across Lutruwita/Tasmania.

About the role

Location: Hobart, Lutruwita/Tasmania

Basis of Employment: Part-time, 4 days per week.

Salary: $115,000–$125,000 pro rata

Join Landcare Tasmania, the peak body supporting more than 320 community groups and 7,000 volunteers working to protect and restore Tasmania’s landscapes. We’re a passionate, values-driven organisation dedicated to sustainability, inclusiveness, and community-led conservation.

We’re seeking an Operations Manager to help scale and streamline our growing organisation. Reporting to the CEO, you’ll oversee finance, HR, governance, IT, and facilities, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.

You’ll drive efficiency, manage compliance, and support organisational growth while leading a small team, including the Administration Officer and Executive Assistant.

Strong leadership, problem-solving, and financial management skills are essential.

Skills & qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in business management, environmental management, finance, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in an operations leadership role
  • Proven financial and business management skills, including budget oversight and strategic resource allocation.
  • Experience managing people, teams, and organisational systems in a values-based environment.
  • Familiarity with governance, compliance, and reporting frameworks for not-for-profit organisations.
  • Can demonstrate prior success in leading organisations through change
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate strategy into action.
  • Collaborative and adaptable approach, comfortable working in a dynamic, evolving team.
  • Commitment to Landcare Tasmania’s vision and community-led approach to environmental care.
  • Emotionally intelligent, empathetic, and able to lead through change.
