Inala Nature Foundation

The Inala Nature Foundation was established to protect the important native vegetation communities and habitats for all local wildlife on the 1500-acre Inala Sanctuary and other land under its guardianship. Resident species include the twelve Tasmanian endemic bird species along with 84 other bird species recorded on the property, 13 species of native mammals and a growing number of reptiles and other vertebrate species.

Examples of conservation projects undertaken by volunteers to date include restoration of riparian zones through weed removal and tree planting, increasing nesting and foraging sites for the endangered Forty-spotted Pardalote and the Swift Parrot, conducting surveys of and monitoring particular species (most recently of 5 bat species). Working bees are led by leaders with expertise in these fields.
