Geeveston Rail Trail Landcare Group

The Geeveston Rail Trail Landcare Group is focused on opening up and maintaining historical tramway tracks for the purpose of making an enjoyable and informative bush track for walkers, cyclists, and horse riders. These tramways brought logged timber from the hills behind Geeveston down to ships in Port Huon and still has many machinery pieces and artefacts left behind by workers.

Once completed, this track will be a major addition to Geeveston's recreational facilities and as a heritage site.

Volunteers gather as required on weekends, weather permitting, while some core members, who are the drivers of this initiative, are in the field at every opportunity they have.

This group is auspiced by the Geeveston Progress Association to assist them with administrative obligations and grant applications. We are in the process of submitting a proposal to Sustainable Timbers Tasmania.
