We warmly invite local landholders in Cloudy Bay, the wider Bruny Island community, and interested stakeholders to join this community meeting. It is an opportunity to support the Cloudy Bay Restoration Group in exploring the potential development of a landscape-scale project to restore the pine plantation behind Cloudy Bay. The vision is to return the area to native forest, with a particular focus on enhancing foraging habitat for the critically endangered swift parrot.
Landcare Tasmania, in partnership with NRM South, is currently supporting the Cloudy Bay Restoration Group in a pilot project to rehabilitate and regenerate approximately 1 hectare of old pine plantation back to native vegetation. This restoration will predominantly feature Eucalyptus globulus and Eucalyptus ovata, along with a locally referenced understorey.
