Claremont Coast Care

This group, based in Claremont, conducts revegetation, weeding, lobbying and education regarding the wetlands that stretch from MONA - through Claremont and Austins Ferry - to Bridgewater.

We are made up of a small group of family and friends from this area, who would like to extend our network to involve local schools and businesses in the effort to improve these ecosystems, for birdlife, climate and natural beauty.

Our long-term aims are:

- To convert large swathes of mowed grass along the waters' edge into grasslands, shrubs, wetlands and forests to create more habitat areas for existing wildlife

-To convert areas with weeds into spaces with native vegetation

-To lobby council to designate larger 'dogs on lead' areas, increase the accessibility of walking tracks and to create more barriers to prevent cars driving onto precious wetland areas

- Normailise nature-friendly behaviours such as cat confinement, wildlife-safe rodent control, and backyard habitat tree planting

- Upskill members, local community and school groups in native propagation, revegetation, and weeding.

We are starting out as a small group however considering the beauty and significance of these wetlands for the community we are confident that through community events we will be able to increase our numbers soon.

We are currently getting together every first Saturday of the month to do a worker bee
