Meet and Weed in Weldborough.
Being a new group in a tiny town, we are having a "meet and weed" on the 24th of May, our first working bee.
We are aiming to start at 10am with a little introduction and show those interested around the local area explaining local issues, especially Holly which we are successfully managing in certain areas.
From approx 11.00 - 13.00 we will be focusing on Holly, they main weed in the area. Notoriously hard to kill and highly invasive, we will apply drill and fill as well as cut and paste techniques.
Anyone keen to come along but coming from further away, please don't hesitate to contact us, as there will be locals happy accommodate for people wanting to make a weekend away out of it. Besides weeding, some planting, assessments and even a weed-walk in Blue Tier Regional Reserve could be organised. There is free camping down the end of Emu Flat Road and camping by donation at the Weldborough pub. So whether you're a mountainbiker, fossicker, hiker or just love camping out bush and want to help do some good for the area, we'd love to have you here!
Please bring: long pants (thick fabric preferred), gaitors if possible, sturdy (ideally waterproof) boots, safety glasses (clear), beanie, rigger gloves (or similar), thick jumper. If possible: cordless drill, dabber bottle, secateurs.
