Achievement Plans

West Tamar Landcare is working with NRM North to increase habitat for eastern barred bandicoots, which are endangered. Wildlife cameras will monitor sites before planting, and at times afterwards to see how successful the project has been. Bandicoots can breed quite quickly, but are prey to feral and domestic animals. We hope that by providing increased habitat and corridors for them to move about, we will see an increase in numbers.

Methods

Landcare and community volunteers will prepare planting sites, do planting and maintain sites.

Natural Values

We will be increasing habitat for bandicoots throughout the Exeter/Glengarry/Loira areas. We hope that this will allow numbers of bandicoots to increase. We also hope to engage with the community and increase the number of landowners who are aware of the problems facing bandicoots and are prepared to join the project.

Amount

$1k - $5k
