Achievement Plans
TPT membership has increased to 350+ members and the group’s admin systems are outdated, inefficient and beyond the capacity of the committee to implement without support. We will develop a self-sustaining fundraising and administration model to enable TPT to continue to protect Tasmania’s threatened flora into the future. This funding will allow TPT’s 2019-20 field trip session to go ahead, including the survey of 10 priority threatened plant spp, and safeguard this volunteer contribution into the future. Data collected will be used to develop management recommendations for land managers.
Methods
1. Action Planning & Stakeholder meetings to investigate partnership arrangements and future fundraising and admin model with DPIPWE, Landcare, Wildcare, other partners (Jun '19)
2. TPT Committee to finalise fundraising model, admin systems to be implemented with support of Event Coordinator (EC) (Jul '19)
3. EC implements new procedures, plans field trips with DPIPWE TSS & TPT Committee (Aug- Sep '19)
4. Volunteer trips announced (Sep '19)
5. 10 trips carried out (Oct '19 - Mar 20)
6. Data collaboration, reports & management recommendations developed by TSS
7. Review of process (May-Jun '20)
Natural Values
Threatened Plants Tasmania is the only statewide volunteer group monitoring and mapping Tasmania’s threatened plants. The management recommendations produced from this year’s events would protect 10 priority threatened flora species and the natural values of 10 protected areas. The proposed new member administration and fundraising systems would ensure these activities could continue many years into the future. An increasing number of TPT volunteers from across the state are enhancing community involvement in looking after Tasmania’s priority threatened flora species.
