Achievement Plans

500m of permeated fencing which allows for penguin travel to and from Chicks in the season ( August to April). This is to separate people from the Penguins on the walking trails.

Methods

Currently in the planning stage, we are using volunteers in the consultation process with all local stakeholders. Following this process, we would engage Council/and/or contractors to install the fencing and signage.

Natural Values

Protection of a sustainable Penguin colony in Stanley, Valueing the native wildlife, communicating this to the community to increase awareness of the value these Penguins bring to the community and all of the visitors to the town.

Outcomes

By installing signs we expect to educate the community and broader public about Penguin and Shore Birds habitat and behaviours and to minimise impacts of damaging human interaction with them. We aim to teach people how to live safely and respectfully with Penguins and Shore birds.
