We’re thrilled to announce Landcare Tasmania has secured $4 million through the Australian Government’s Future Drought Fund to deliver a five-year statewide Catchment Connect – Enhancing Farm Dams for Climate Resilience Project.

This project will:
-
Deliver community workshops and events, spatial mapping, and on-ground works to improve landscape function, ecosystem services, and drought resilience on farms.
- Support Landcare Members, First Nations groups and stakeholders in Catchment Action and Healthy Country Planning.
-
Provide $2.4 million in funding for fencing and revegetating farm dams to improve biodiversity, stock health, water quality, and drought resilience.

💧Have you got a Farm Dam Enhancement Project? We're inviting EOIs into Landcare Tasmania's Project Bank by the 31st of August 2025.
We're looking for farm dam enhancement sites within the Pitt Water - Coal, Leven, and Meander Catchments (and their surrounding areas). In the future we will expand to other regions – so we encourage you to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to our Project Bank.
What’s an Enhanced Farm Dam?
Fenced dams with native vegetation buffers that support productivity, reduce methane emissions, and boost ecosystem health. The Australian National University (ANU) research shows they’re a win for farms and the environment.

Don't have a dam? Not to worry, as part of this project, we will also be running multiple community workshops and events across the state!
