Ecological Wetland Restoration

Wetland restoration as a landscape restoration tool across south-eastern Australia, including Tasmania.

Mark will be speaking about building momentum in ecological restoration across Australia: action inspired by community knowledge, science and results.

Mark Bachmann looks at the growing momentum in ecological restoration, and the need for bigger-picture thinking in the management of natural resources.

Using examples from Nature Glenelg Trust's growing portfolio of community-based restoration projects across south-eastern Australia - including recent wetland restoration works on the east coast of Tasmania - he will discuss how factors like community knowledge sharing, sound science and the success of past projects are able to build momentum, mobilise the community and help drive future action.

Mark will further explore how Landcare can play a more active role in helping to safeguard the sustainability of water resources, through a renewed focus on groundwater, waterways, floodplains and wetlands in Tasmania.
