Landcare Tasmania's supporting role in restoring Tasmania
Starting his career in catchment management as a geomorphologist, town planner and weed manager, he has developed extensive experience across both operational and leadership roles. He is now guiding Landcare Tasmania as one of the peak “go-to” environmental restoration organisations that supports the grassroots Landcare movement in Tasmania. The Landcare platform aims at empowering whole of community environmental literacy as a means towards ecosystem restoration and sustainable land and water management.
He has worked at Landcare Tasmania for 14 years and contributed to developing the current programs that support the Landcare movement in Tasmania. He knows his way around Tasmania understanding the social and natural environment and has a 25-year rapport with the Landcare community. He shares a passion with fellow Landcarers and is committed to building capacity and mobilising grassroots efficacy towards tangible environmental gains. During his time with Landcare Tasmania he has gained hands-on experience in all facets of on-ground work, including working hands-on at working bees, conducting workshops, planning, strategizing, and funding positive environmental outcomes.
As we move forward in these times of needed action, mobilising the community through existing and emerging networks of people caring for their local ecosystems will play a critical role in reversing biodiversity decline and mitigating and adapting to climate change impacts.
