Launching our Council-Landcare Member toolkit

We’re thrilled to launch the Council–Landcare Member Toolkit, a brand-new resource designed to deepen collaboration between Local Government Councils and community Landcare groups across Lutruwita/Tasmania.
This practical guide provides councils and Landcare members with clear pathways, proven examples, and ready-to-use tools for working together to care for our landscapes, waterways, and communities.
Why this toolkit matters
“Councils and community Landcare groups share a common goal — caring for our local environment,” says Landcare Tasmania CEO Peter Stronach.
“This toolkit gives both sides the practical steps they need to work together more effectively and achieve bigger, longer-lasting results.”
The resource highlights how councils can support Landcare through strategic planning, staff resourcing, grants, training, and promotion, while community groups contribute expertise, project design, and on-ground action.
The development of the toolkit responds to the growing recognition of the important role that community-led Landcare plays in tackling environmental challenges, building climate resilience, and strengthening local connections.
“By working together, Councils and Landcare members can create healthier, more sustainable landscapes and communities across Tasmania,” said Mr Stronach.
