What is the Digital Library?

The Digital Library is designed to be a living archive of documents related to the Tasmanian Landcare movement.

It enables Landcarers across the state to share their knowledge, learnings and achievements across the Landcare network

Community Care Group, Associate and School Associate members can also access their own private Digital Library, accessible only to their members.

Where do I upload my documents?

Documents can be uploaded to the Digital Library on the Landcare Tasmania website via two methods:

  • Available to anyone with Admin, Editor or Member connection to an Organisation Member.
  • We recommend this method for documents associated with a specific Community Care Group, Associate or School Associate member.
  • Publicly available documents are displayed in the Digital Library and the organisations profile page.
  • Includes an option to mark these documents as “Private” – Meaning they can only be accessed by other members of the Community Care Group, Associate or School Associate member
  • Recommended for documents unrelated to a specific Landcare member organisation or related to a closed Landcare member organisation.
  • These documents will only be visible on the Digital Library
  • There is not an option for these documents to be marked as private

How do I upload my documents?

How do I upload my documents?

Documents can be uploaded to the Digital Library via a simple form, which is similar whether accessed via the Members Toolbox or the Digital Library:

Title: Name for the post to the Digital Library

Summary: A brief description of the document or documents that will be uploaded

File Upload: Click here to upload your document/s. Remember you can upload multiple documents of different types to the same page. For this example, Local Rivercare wrote a report on their working bee and took several photos, they upload all the files here in the one form submission.

Date: Defaults to the upload date, however you can change this. In our example, Local Rivercare held their working bee on the 1st of August and upload the documents a few days later. They decide to set the document date to 1st of August

Document Author: Defaults to the uploader but can be changed to the person who created the document (could be the author, or photographer).

Filters: Selecting these helps other Landcarers find your Digital Library entry, select as many that you think are relevant! Within the Digital Library, Landcarers can filter for the document types or topics that interest them.

Document Type: In our example of Local Rivercare, since they have uploaded images or their event they decide to select "photo". They have also uploaded a report on the working bee, and decide to also select "event summary" and "report"

Landcare Topics: Because they have planted habitat, Local Rivercare decide "biodiversity" is relevant to their entry. Since they also used the event to advocate for the river within the local community, they also select "advocacy" and "community & engagement". Finally, because they collected rubbish from the riverbanks they select "waste management"

Permissions: These control who can access your Digital Library entry and how Landcare Tasmania may use your documents.

Share this document publicly: Available only when uploading via the Members Toolbox. Tick this box if you would like the document to be available to other Landcarers! Leaving this box unticked limits access to other members of the Community Care Group, Association or School Associate only.

I give permission for Landcare Tasmania to use images and documents I upload: Please select this option only if you are happy for us to use your documents, for example in our publications, on our website or social media.

How do I scan my physical documents?

Many free apps, such as Adobe Scan, can be used to create digital copies of your physical documents and images.

Many local Libraries also have document scanning facilities available free of charge
