Feral Cat Workshop Wynyard

Join us in taking practical steps to manage feral cats!

Wynyard 19th October

We invite you to come along and be part of our action plan for feral cat management. Hear how other local groups are doing their cat trapping projects and share ideas on how your group can target the issue in your patch.

In this workshop we will learn;

  • How to trap feral cats
  • How to start your own feral cat management plan
  • Legal do's and don't
  • What other landcare groups are doing in this space
  • Monitoring of feral cat populations

These workshops follow on from our recent info session in Ulverstone, and aim to engage other Landcare groups to be part of the next step in tackling the problem. Through practical planning and a coordinated approach you can help lessen the impact feral cats have on our wildlife and health.

Guest speakers

Our guest speakers will include Gill Basnett, who is the National Feral Cat and Fox Management Coordinator at the Centre for Invasive Species Solutions. Gill will advise us about safe and legal cat management support, assist us in developing next steps in managing feral cats, and share ways to measures your success, through camera monitoring and contributing to a national databases such as Feral Scan.

Also joining us will be John Bowden, an experienced and qualified trapper with many years of experience working as a feral cat management contractor across Tasmania. John will show us how to use a cat trap safely and effectively and share his practical knowledge about baits, safety and stories from his time as a feral cat trapper.

We hope you can join us in the next step in eradicating feral cats from your patch!

This event was supported by the State Government's Landcare Action Grants and is part of Landcare Tasmania's Northern Slopes Bioregion Restoration Program.
