Liena Water Catchment Rehabilitation Group Working Bee

As a relatively new Landcare Tas team, formed in response to the July 2016 flooding in the upper Mersey River, this is our first event organized for a larger group.  In addition to Crown Land in the area of interest, there are also a number of properties adjacent to the river that are owned by members of the group.  This working bee will focus on local issues, many of which have arisen from the floods.  We will review work done with ALRS and local council funding, strategies for the control of willows in the Mersey and various other flood rehabilitation measures.  This will also be an opportunity to examine the abundant natural regrowth of native species. Ground work on the day could include:
- weed control,
- slashing blackberries,
- additional plantings of native species.

This is a very attractive site, easily accessible from the road.

Directions: Enter Rowlands Road, Liena on the western side of the new bridge, go to 44 Rowlands Road, the first house on the right.

Lunch, morning and afternoon tea will be provided, but please register your intention to attend using the contact details listed here.  The loaves and fishes will only go so far!

If you intend participating in the ground work, please wear appropriate hardy clothing and footwear.  Gloves and tools will be provided.
