Bandicoot Habitat and Erosion Control Planting - Mountain River

Landcare Tasmania is holding a planting event at a beautiful riverside site at Mountain River, to create habitat for bandicoots and to prevent erosionCome along for a fun day and give us a hand!

Creating more available habitat for bandicoots will allow their populations to grow, which in turn will provide more prey for predators such as the wedge-tailed eagle. It's all connected in the web of life!

In addition to creating habitat, the planting aims to prevent erosion along the river bank. The site is undergoing removal of blackberry, the invasive weed, which has been dominating the river side. Its roots have been holding the soil in place, and so now we need to replace the blackberries with other plants to hold the soil.

So come and help us for a fun day of planting, get your hands dirty, and connect with nature and other like-minded people!

No experience required, but it is important that you come prepared for being on your feet and working outside in winter weather.

(We will have an obvious sign outside the drive way on the day for the exact location)

This event received funding from the Australian Government Communities Environment Program and support from federal MP Julie Collins.
