Our next multi-day working bee is coming up on the 11th and 12th of April!
Here's the rough plan for the weekend,
Day 1: Working on a gorse infestation on the edge of Henty Dunes, from 8:30am to 3pm with lunch and morning tea provided. We will have a shared BBQ dinner that evening.
Day 2: Weeding broom at the end of the Ocean Beach Trail from 9am to 12pm. We hope you can join us, either for one of the days or both! To come along, you must be signed up as an NRE volunteer. For the first day, we will meet at the Parks and Wildlife Workshop (17 Herbert Street) at 8:30am. We will carpool out to the site off of Henty Road from there. We will work on the gorse using the cut and paste technique, until around 3pm, stopping for a lunch break at 12. If you are around on Saturday night, we will have a group dinner at the West Strahan Beach BBQ's
For the second day, we will meet at the Parks Workshop again at 8:45am then head to the Ocean Beach Carpark. We will walk up the beach to the end of the Ocean Beach Trail where we will be pulling and cutting broom in the coastal grassland. As always there will be tea, lunch and snacks provided on both days.
For those coming from out of town, please get in touch if you need accommodation, we can help to organise a spot to camp if you have camping gear. W
hat to bring for the working bee: – Raincoat – long sleeved shirt and long pants – warm jumper – sturdy boots – sunscreen – sunhat – water – a cup or mug for tea If you have your own loppers, secateurs, or high viz vest please bring these along too! Please note that we will be working in remote areas without phone reception. We will have an emergency PLB on site. Please RSVP by the 5th April so we know how many people to cater for.
