Members Opportunity for Q & A with TAS Australian of the Year

Members are welcome to join us to hear from Sam about his story and a short Q&A session.

Sam Elsom, the 2025 Tasmanian Australian of the Year, will be visiting us on Thursday 14 August for a special session for Landcare Tas staff and Members as part of the 2025 tour of Honour.  This will be an informal chat about his story, followed by a Q&A.
Sam Elsom is an environmentalist and entrepreneur with a background in fashion and a passion for sustainability. He is the co-founder and CEO of Sea Forest, a company based in Tasmania that cultivates native red seaweed (Asparagopsis) to reduce methane emissions from livestock. Sam’s innovative work is helping to tackle climate change through nature-based solutions and clean-tech innovation, and he’s a great example of leadership in environmental and climate resilience.
Date: Thursday 14 August
Location: Statewide via Zoom session - details will be sent after registration below. 
Time: 1.30pm - 2.30pm
Bonus Public Event at 5pm
Sam will also be speaking at a ticketed public event that evening at the Theatre Royal, hosted by Ryk Goddard. The event, titled "Real Stories, Real Change," will feature:

  • Ariarne Titmus OAM – 2025 Young Tasmanian Australian of the Year
