Seed Collection & Propagation Bicheno

Learn how to propagate native plants using a simple method designed for backyards. We will explore growing plants from seeds, as well as how to collect, clean and store your own seeds.

We will be joined by seed expert Ruth Mollison from the Understorey Network (a Tasmanian community organisation). She has now collected seeds and grown native plants for over 15 years for herself and others, and enjoys passing on tips on how to easily collect seeds and grow native plants to others.

What do I need to bring? Materials are provided. If you have your own gloves and pair of secateurs please bring them along. To store your seedlings we recommend a styrofoam box (you can pick up a second hand one from your local supermarket!)

This workshop contributes to a larger Local Seed Resilience project aiming to build capacity and improve the skills of local communities, and is a part of Landcare Tasmania's Landscape Restoration and Community Outreach programs funded by the State Government's Landcare Action Grants Additional Projects Round
