Peter Stronach
Landcare Tasmania CEO

Peter started working in the environmental field while in primary school, addressing pollution in his local creek and engaging with Council to rectify the situation. With a deep understanding of the Tasmanian environment, he has an uncanny knack of being able to talk to anyone, on the land or in town, about the life around us in a way that is inspirational, informed and inclusive. His work as Community Landcare Manager for 10 years and now as CEO for Landcare Tasmania spans the breadth and depth of this amazing island. He has an unabated passion and enthusiasm for the environment, community, owls, and a good yarn. His favourite hot beverage is Earl Grey tea.

Outside of work, he enjoys fitness, hiking, and time in nature. Nick’s favourite hot drink is a single-origin pour-over coffee (a self-confessed coffee snob).

Dawn
Communications Manager

Dawn has loved storytelling and nature since she was a child climbing trees and combing shorelines in search of adventure. She holds a Masters in Strategic Communications from UWA and feels grateful to have combined these passions into a communications career spanning ten years, and she loves sharing inspiring stories with the community.
As Communications Manager, Dawn leads Landcare Tasmania’s communications strategy, media and digital engagement, helping amplify the work of members and strengthen the voice of community Landcare across Lutruwita/Tasmania.
Dawn is an avid volunteer and thinks there's nothing better than getting out in her local patch in the Southern Beaches, helping to weed or plant trees. When not at her desk, she loves reading, yoga and heading off into the Tassie wilderness with her partner and daughter. Her favourite hot beverage is a steaming brewed chai to kick off the morning.

Jen

Having completed an Honours degree in Botany, Declan is interested in how scientific methods and techniques can be used to aid conservation and land management.

Jess
Executive Assistant

Jess grew up in Lutruwita/Tasmania. Her love for the natural environment led her to study a Bachelor of Human Health Science in Herbal Medicine and Nutrition at UNE and then much later, when Covid caused a reason to pause and reassess; a Diploma of Sustainability through UTAS.

Jess has been with Landcare Tasmania since 2023, starting as Events Coordinator, moving to Partnerships Coordinator and then Executive Assistant from October 2025. Previously, Jess has worked across multiple projects and events: Nayri Niara - Aboriginal-owned social enterprise, Okines Community House, and the co-creation and delivery of Pangaea Festival to name a few.

In her spare time, Jess loves putting permaculture principles into practice at home and spending as much time in the ocean as possible.

Jess’s favourite drink is the first cup of tea in the morning - without it, the day can not begin!

Bianca
Senior Education Coordinator

Bianca is passionate about helping young people connect with nature, care for wildlife and discover the important role they can play in looking after the places around them. As Senior Education Coordinator, she coordinates and develops Landcare Tasmania’s Education Program, bringing together schools, Landcare groups, local experts and hands-on learning opportunities across Tasmania. With 15 years of experience in animal education, including teaching nationally accredited courses, Bianca brings a practical and engaging approach to environmental education and works closely with teachers, students, families, partners and the wider Landcare community.

The best part of her job is creating those moments when a young person becomes curious about the natural world and starts to see themselves as someone who can make a difference.

Outside of work, Bianca enjoys exploring beaches and bushlands with her family, reading with her dog by her side, and sipping on a Dandy Chai.

Sarah
Network Coordinator (Northern)

Sarah loves to bridge the gap between natural sciences and media. She studied Biology (bachelor’s degree) and Science Communication (master’s degree) and worked in engagement and outreach with science organisations like CSIRO and Questacon in her early career. Then she leapt towards storytelling as a way of communicating science-and-nature-flavoured information, and worked in media - making videos, writing articles and managing social media - for more than 15 years. She brings a strong desire to make people care about the environment they live in, and the tricks of the storytelling trade to make that happen.

Sarah’s role with Landcare Tas involves helping young people discover and take responsibility for the nature around them, and supporting the (slightly) older ones to carry out environmental projects of every type and size.

In her free time, Sarah loves outdoor adventuring, messing about with plants, and creatively upcycling junk - all activities best fuelled by a latte.

Amy
Network Coordinator (Southern)

Amy fell in love with Lutruwita/Tasmania and moved here from Victoria in 2024. She studied Environment Science at Deakin University and has worked in a range of environmental on-ground and strategic roles with local and state government within Victoria. In 2021, Amy founded, and is still an active committee member, of the Mornington Peninsula Intrepid Landcare - a group to inspire and engage youth in environmental volunteering. She currently lives in an off-grid house amongst the trees, and enjoys gluten free baking (and eating), surfing and spending time in the bush. Her hot bevvie of choice is a rooibos tea with a hint of vanilla.

Joanne (Jo)
Project manager

Jo’s love for nature began when her parents took her on long bush walks from the age of four. She is passionate about Tasmania's natural landscapes and believes people thrive when they are connected to nature.

Jo is known to be a ‘Jo of all trades’ and has an Associate Diploma in Applied Science with over 30 years’ experience in natural resource and rural land management. Jo also has a background in Parks asset and project management, and is proactive in promoting environmentally sensitive project/land management approaches.

As for her favourite hot beverage, a coffee is always a great way to start the day.

Erin
Office Services Coordinator

Erin has fostered a keen interest in native flora and fauna since day 1, and has been actively involved in fundraising and conservation initiatives since the weathered age of 10. She feels privileged to have been involved with several conservation organisations over the years and believes strongly in the power of grassroots movements and empowered communities.

Erin brings a strong background in administration and team management and coordination, with extensive experience in hospitality and healthcare settings. Through her work she has developed a passion for optimising efficiency and team cohesion through creating inclusive and supportive working environments. A hockey player in her spare time, Erin finds it easier to facilitate effective communication without a mouthguard in. Her beverage of choice is a relaxing cup of chamomile tea.

Darcy
Northern Nursery Manager

Darcy is fortunate to have grown up in the Adelaide Hills in an area known to the local Peramangk people as Battunga ('the place of large trees'). Seeking to understand how to best protect this special landscape he completed a Certificate III and a Diploma in Conservation and Land Management. In 2024, Darcy decided to start afresh in Launceston, where he completed a Bachelor of Science (Geography and Environment) at the University of Tasmania.

Darcy is responsible for establishing the Northern Nursery and leading its day-to-day operations. This includes inducting and training volunteers in best-practice seed collection, native plant propagation, and revegetation techniques; developing and maintaining nursery hygiene and biosecurity protocols; and working collaboratively with partners to deliver workshops, training sessions, and community events.

In his free time Darcy enjoys exploring the bush with his dog Freddy. His beverage of choice is an English Breakfast, white with no sugar.

She has spent much of her career in positions that improve environmental conservation and sustainable agriculture through research, hands-on field work, education, engagement and empowerment of the community. She has worked across several Australian states in a range of roles for government and non-government organisations as well as a private consultant.

Gill loves that first quiet cup of tea in the morning, ideally looking out onto a garden or nature and listening to the birds.

Joshua
Project Coordinator

Josh fell in love with Tasmania after visiting in 2024 and being reminded of growing up on the South Island of New Zealand. He studied a Bachelor of Environmental Science with Honours at Griffith University on the Gold Coast in 2018. Since graduating Josh has worked in a range of roles including marine and freshwater research, consultancy as an aquatic ecologist, Ecotourism, and Education.

In his role as Project Coordinator, Josh is working on the Urban Rivers Sorell Project and The Ripple Effect Project with the Growers Group Alliance. These projects seek to enhance riparian habitat leading into critically important habitat and to demonstrate the benefits enhancing farm dams has on local biodiversity and livestock health. In his spare time Josh enjoys surfing, free-diving, hiking, and spending time outdoors. His hot bevvie of choice is a strong chamomile tea with ginger, lemon, and honey.
