Landcare Tasmania hosted its 2021 biennial Community Landcare Conference in Launceston which included two prestigious award ceremonies.

The Landcare community got together and celebrated the award winners for their contributions, in many forms, to community Landcare.

Awards were presented on both the Friday afternoon at a Mayoral Civic Reception at Launceston Town Hall, and on the Saturday evening for the 2021 State and Territory Landcare Awards held at Tailrace Centre, Launceston.

We hosted a Mayoral Reception, at Launceston Town Hall addressed by Mayor van Zetten and Minister Guy Barnett.

The Tasmanian Premier’s Landcare award which recognises innovation, inspiration or community building in Landcare was presented to Todd Dudley of the North East Bioregional Network.

Landcare Tasmania’s acting CEO Peter Stronach said “The civic reception recognised a number of key members of the Landcare community for their significant contributions to the Landcare movement.”

Mr Stronach said “Todd Dudley’s leadership on large scale ecosystem restoration is a shining example for future projects across the state and beyond“

This ceremony was a fantastic evening at the Tailrace centre.  Guests dined on a beautiful dinner and drinks provided by many in-kind supporters, and celebrated with warmth and comradery the amazing achievements of Landcarers statewide. 

This event was supported by Landcare Australia. Their CEO, Dr Shane Norrish said “It is an honour to be able to recognise the great work being carried out by our Landcare champions in Tasmania,”  He added: “Landcarers across Australia deserve to be acknowledged and we’re looking forward to seeing the State and Territory winners represent their community at the National Awards next year.”

Landcare Tasmania acting CEO, Peter Stronach, said “We had the most Tasmanian nominations for these awards in its 25 year history, showing that Landcare is going from strength strength”
