The Welcome BBQ, Dark Sky Walk and Storytelling - Conf 23

The Tasmanian Community Landcare Conference was kicked off on Friday the 13th of October, with a Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony thanks to Trish Hodge and Mathius Everett from NITA Education, Linton Burgess and Nicole King, followed by an amazing barbecue dinner featuring meat donated by Preston Ridge Free Range Pork and Summerlea Farm Tasmania.

The evening concluded with a wonderful storytelling session from Trish Hodge where we learnt how purinina (the Tasmanian Devil) got their markings and voice and how mangana (the Yellow Tailed Black Cockatoo) got their yellow cheeks and tail feathers.

It was a wonderful evening under the not-so-starry sky. Old friends were reunited and new friends were made.

Thanks to all the supporters who made the evening a success and particularly thanks to the unstoppable Lara Warren; caterer extraordinaire for the amazing feast - AND of course to our excellent volunteers for helping to bring it all together. We are truly grateful.
