Media Event for TLF Grant Round 21

On October 9th, the 21st grant round of the Tasmanian Landcare Fund (TLF) will open for applications, this time on the theme of 'Building and maintaining better soils'. With this Round we will pass $500,000 being provided to on ground projects around Tasmania. We want to get this story into the local papers and on tele. You can help us by simply showing up for a photo!

The group will be holding a giant cheque made out to the future generations of Tasmania for $500,000 representing the amount of money and work that has been accomplished.

We'll invite the media but don't worry you wont be required to speak if you don't want to. Rod Knight, CEO of Landcare Tasmania and Landcare Tasmania staff will be there to support the group and chat with reporters. We would really appreciate you coming along for the quick snap.

Background to the TLF

The money distributed through the TLF has been made possible thanks to the generosity of the late John Roberts. In 2003 Landcare Tasmania was approached by a retired farmer, Mr John Roberts, who wanted to make a bequest that would make a difference. He believed that if we looked after our land we would be able to produce healthy food and therefore healthy people – it was that simple!

John's bequest was used to establish the JM Roberts Charitable Trust, whose purpose is to support the work of Landcare through donations to the TLF. This fabulous vision has provided support for hands-on, practical projects to be undertaken on farms, in schools and with community groups to improve Tasmania’s water, land, plants and animals.
