Waste & Wildlife

This unique Landcare-themed waste education workshop will educate and inspire the next generation of environmental stewards in Tasmania.

Availability: Expressions of interest for the 2026 school year are now open.

Our guiding question for this program is:

"How does the waste we create affect Tasmania's wildlife and environment, and how can we take action to protect the places we care about?"

Through interactive activities, discussions and hands-on projects, students will not only learn about the issues, but also about actionable solutions they can implement in their own lives and communities.

This education program features local Tasmanian wildlife species: the Platypus, Little Penguins, Microbats and Bennetts Wallaby.

The Waste & Wildlife program consists of:

  • two pre-lessons that set the scene - these would be delivered by the teachers,
  • the incursion workshops with our Landcare Education staff
  • several post-lesson plans
  • student handouts
  • resource guides.
