Eradicate willows from Paloona section of Forth River. There is 1km of remaining willows requiring initial treatment and follow-up.
Methods
Treatment using hand tools for frill/drill and fill technique using glyphosate 360 for use around waterways. Work to be done by contractors and volunteers and all follow up to be done by volunteers. Volunteers will be welcome to attend any working bee with safety and training provided at each session.
Natural Values
Restoring natural habitat to the river system. Eradication of willows to improve native habitat and improve water flow.
Outcomes
By controlling weeds in this remnant bushland, we will prevent weeds from spreading and encourage native regeneration. By installing signs, we expect more people to be aware of willow treatment and landholders downstream may be encouraged to control willows.
