How Does The Project Bank Work?

The Project Bank is a collection of Landcare projects and ideas proposed by our members that require funding or support (also called an Expression of Interest or EOI). Landcare Tasmania uses it as a tool for understanding what our members need, promoting our members’ ideas and advocating for external funding to support them.

Once we understand what our members need, we can negotiate with potential partners and funding bodies to source the funding required to undertake their Landcaring goals.

The Project Bank Submit an EOI Funding Opportunities

Landcare Tasmania runs annual grant rounds for members. Sometimes we secure funding from other sources, and one-off grant rounds are also available to both members and non-members. All submissions to the Project Bank will be considered for all our funding opportunities.

Submitting to the Project Bank serves as an Expression of Interest (EOI), not a complete grant application. Please note that matching your project with available funding is not immediate and may take some time.

Step 1 – Become a member:
To begin a submission, you need to be a member or an existing volunteer with a Landcare group.

Step 2 – Submit your Expression of Interest:
Log in to the Members Toolbox and complete the Expression of Interest form—it should take about 10–15 minutes. Be sure to outline your project's Landcare themes, goals, and objectives, and provide an estimated cost.

Step 3 – Project added to the map:
If your EOI aligns with Landcare Tasmania’s objectives, it will be approved and published on the Project Bank Map on our website.

Step 4 – Project EOI assessed for funding opportunities:
When new funding opportunities arise, Landcare Tasmania staff will review all approved proposals against the criteria for each grant to determine the best fit. You don't need to specify which grant you would like to apply for. See our Funding Opportunities

Step 5 – Invitation to apply for funding:
If your EOI is shortlisted, you’ll be invited to submit a full grant application. At this stage, you will want to prepare a full project plan, timeline, budget (including quotes and in-kind support), risk assessment, and detailed project map. Make sure you have the necessary permissions and insurance to carry out the work. If your full grant application is not successful, your proposal remains in the Project Bank for future opportunities. Check out our Project Planning Template to help guide the development of your project plan.

Step 6 – Full application assessment:
Your full application will be assessed by a panel to ensure your project is well-planned, low-risk, and achievable within the grant’s timeframe.

Step 7 – Funding agreement:
If successful, you’ll receive a funding agreement that outlines the grant conditions, payment schedule, and project timeline.

Step 8 – Project underway:
Congratulations—your Landcare project is now underway! If you only receive partial funding, your EOI will remain in the Project Bank and will continue to be considered in future funding rounds until fully supported.

Our bottom-up approach

The Project Bank is Landcare Tasmania's central database. Our team uses the map on our website for advocacy and to identify common themes or geographical clusters of member projects and needs. Your ideas help us address individual issues at larger scales and inform the development of our programs, partnerships and governance.
