Sun, 1 November | DPO Wetlands: Behind the Scenes
Go behind the scenes at the Devonport Airport Pardoe Conservation Area to explore an important wetland conservation project taking shape on Devonport’s coast.
Join Devonport Landcare Group, Cradle Coast NRM, and TasPorts for a guided walk and talk through the DPO Wetlands, a series of conservation significant wetlands along the northern boundary of Devonport Airport.
Hear about the natural values of the site, the work Devonport Landcare Group has been undertaking in the local area and how collaboration with Devonport Airport and other partners is helping protect and enhance the wetlands. Along the way, the group will discuss habitat restoration, weed management, revegetation with local coastal species, soil carbon and plans to strengthen the area’s biodiversity into the future.
We'll then stop to do some planting of native carex spc, before heading back to have a cuppa afterwards.
This is an opportunity to visit a site that isn’t ordinarily accessible to the public and hear directly from the people working together to care for it.
