Caring for the environment runs deep at Glenora District School.
Back in 1995, Grade 8 students were learning about Landcare and caring for catchment and protecting local ecosystems. Many of the students that participated in creating this mural (proudly on display at the school’s front office) now have their own families and children who are attending Glenora District School.

Fast forward to Nov 2025, the Grade 4, 5 and 6 students explored the connections between waste and wildlife, discovering how everyday actions affect animals like microbats, penguins, platypus, and Bennett's wallabies.
Across generations, Glenora students continue to nurture a legacy of environmental stewardship; learning, acting and caring for the land and its creatures.

Our guiding question for Landcare Tasmania’s Waste and Wildlife program is:
"How does the waste we create affect Tasmania's wildlife and environment, and how can we take action to protect the places we care about?"
Through interactive activities, discussions and hands-on projects, students learned about the issues, as well as actionable solutions they can implement in their own lives and communities.

Student pledges to help wildlife:
