Each grant has its own set of requirements detailed in the Grant Guidelines published by the funding body. Be sure to review this document carefully before starting your application so you can gather all necessary information and determine whether your project is eligible for the program. In general, the key elements of preparing a grant application may include:
- Project plan & timeline
-
Budget (including in-kind contributions)
- Some grants may require contractor or supplier quotes to support your budget
- Approvals and permissions from land managers (if you are not working on your own land)
- Letters of support from partnering organisations
- Risk assessment
- Plans for monitoring and evaluation
- Detailed project map
- Project location (PID, lat/long, address)
- Before images for photo monitoring
For Landcare Tasmania grants, we also suggest keeping the following tips in mind:
- Highlight the Natural Values being protected, enhanced or restored
- Highlight the Landcaring activities you are undertaking
- Be specific about what you need funding for e.g. materials or contractors
- Community involvement and in-kind contributions are favourable.
- Include letters of support from project partners.
- A detailed map that clearly communicates your project activities.
Photo Monitoring
It is important that you undertake some very simple photo monitoring as part of your project particularly for funded grants but for your own records of how things change. The most effective way to show change is to remember to take “before and after” photographs (from and of the same location) of your site.
