Highlights from the 2024 Annual General Meeting

28 November 2024 | Last week, members and supporters of Landcare Tasmania attended our Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Hobart and online, with 58 attendees from across the state.

The Landcare Tasmania AGM was an important opportunity for members to become informed of key activities for the last financial year, ask questions, and to have their say in electing the people who will have carriage of the organisation over the coming year.

All motions were passed, including amendments to the constitution. Read more here

Landcare Tasmania members and their volunteers are the absolute foundation of the entire grassroots community Landcare movement.
We’d like to recognise and thank every single one of you who took action to care for the land, water, flora, and fauna of lutruwita/Tasmania this year.
No matter how big or small the contribution, you’ve made a difference!

Please read about our year in the 2023-24 Landcare Tasmania Annual Report.

Welcome to our new board members!

We thanked outgoing board members Rosemary Collins and Mark Harrison for their dedication and contributions to the board.
And we welcomed two newly elected board members.

Janet Vail

Janet has been working as a senior commercial analyst with the Department of State Growth since 2020, where she specialises in the development and implementation of loan and grant programs. She provides recommendations on financial assistance proposals from businesses across a broad range of industry sectors. Janet has over 10 years of experience in professional services, working in tax and business advisory. She holds a Bachelor of Business from the University of Tasmania.

She is also a board member of Okines Community House Inc. where she actively contributes to the strategic planning and governance of the community-focused organisation and she volunteers to assist with the delivery of local events.

Craig Elliot

Craig has worked in natural resource management and biosecurity agencies in Queensland and completed a Masters in Management (Organisational Development) before relocating to Tasmania in 2011. He was also the incident controller, and later mentor, for the National Biosecurity Response Team. Now, as a consultant, Craig works around Australia and internationally to support governments and industry bodies to become better prepared for biosecurity threats.

With over 30 years experience in the public and private sectors, Craig brings a strong background in biosecurity, combined with extensive experience in program design, evaluation, budget and organisational management, and an affinity for stewardship of the land and water.
