Landcare Tasmania is thrilled to announce the launch event for its upcoming school holiday program, aimed at fostering a deeper connection between young people and their local environment.
The launch event will take place at the Hobart Rivulet, where participants will have the opportunity to learn about the unique habitat of the elusive platypus.
The school holiday program, ‘Know Your Local Patch’ (KYLP), will run at three participating schools throughout the upcoming school holidays. Designed to engage young people in the wonders of nature, the program aims to cultivate a sense of appreciation and understanding for their local surroundings.
The launch event will serve as an exciting introduction to the program, offering a range of interactive activities focused on the fascinating world of platypus habitat. Participants will have the chance to explore the Hobart Rivulet, guided by expert educators who will share their knowledge about this incredible native species and its habitat.
It will also be an excellent opportunity to meet with local volunteer groups who are restoring this amazing urban waterway.
Activities will include hands-on demonstrations, informative presentations, and engaging games that provide valuable insights into the platypus's life and environment.
